Judy Gilder is a life-long watercolorist but has since lost her mobility allowing her to paint. One morning as she was selling books of her artwork Judy met Tom Webster, a photographer, and the two began talking. Tom inquired if there was any way he could help her continue to create to which she replied, "You can put the brush in my hand."
For the past two years Tom has been painting with Judy every other week. Judy holds the brush and Tom moves the canvas, creating shapes that he later assembles into collages.
Tom’s background is in black and white photography, and creating the colorful collages with Judy required a change in his mentality. He had to adapt to create a collaborative vision. Now, he treasures the works and is hard-pressed to put them up for sale.
Tom grew up in Tucson, Arizona and Judy is originally from Evanston, Illinois, born in 1942.
